Night Rating

The Night Rating gives you the added freedom and flexibility to fly from dusk to dawn. Night is also a great time to take your friends and family for a scenic flight. This course will teach you everything you need to know to safely enjoy flying after dark.

 

 

 


Requirements

Prerequisites: Private Pilot License

Medical Fitness: Category 3 Medical Certificate

Experience:

A minimum of 20 hours of flying time which shall include a minimum of:

1) 10 hours of night flight time including a minimum of 5 hours dual flight time, including 2 hours of cross-country flight time, 5 hours solo flight time, including 10 takeoffs, circuits, and landings, and

2) 10 hours dual instrument time

3) Credit for a maximum of five of the ten hours of dual instrument time may be given for instrument ground time, provided that the total instrument time shall be in addition to the ten hours of night flight time.
